7/6/2023 0 Comments Peter & Max by Bill Willingham![]() ![]() ![]() He produced the 13-issue Pantheon for Lone Star Press and wrote a pair of short novels about the modern adventures of the hero Beowulf, published by the writer's collective, Clockwork Storybook, of which Willingham was a founding member. In the late 1990s Willingham reestablished himself as a prolific writer. He also produced the pornographic series Ironwood for Eros Comix. He contributed stories to Green Lantern and started his own independent, black-and-white comics series Coventry which lasted only 3 issues. However, for reasons unknown, the series had trouble maintaining an original schedule, and Willingham's position in the industry remained spotty for many years. He first gained attention for his 1980s comic book series Elementals published by Comico, which he both wrote and drew. In the late 1970s to early 1980s he drew fantasy ink pictures for the Dungeons & Dragons Basic and Expert game rulebooks. ![]() 7/6/2023 0 Comments Darkhouse by karina halle![]() Sometimes terrifying, often hilarious, Darkhouse is the first book in the Experiment in Terror series.ĭarkhouse is seductively entertaining and I'm convinced that it has some secret ingredient (like the sauce on a Big Mac) that makes it immediately addictive. ![]() Oh, we’ve had nothing but foreplay from the day we first met. But creating and filming a ghost-hunting show isn’t easy when there are actual ghosts haunting them-and then some. Like No time for foreplay I teased breathlessly. What Dex does believe in is making money and in Perry he sees a viable opportunity: create a ghost-hunting show on YouTube that would rival anything you’d see on TV and watch the dollars roll in. When twenty-three-year-old Perry Palomino explores a supposedly haunted lighthouse, she runs into Youtuber Dex Foray, a sexy, snarky and opportunistic ghost hunter who doesn’t quite believe in ghosts. A rock music journalist by day, she travels the earth searching for the next big metal/rock band to fall in love with. Dex and Perry might have the chemistry of Mulder and Scully and the scares of the Winchester Brothers, but I promise you this duo is unlike anything you’ve seen before. ![]() ![]() Take all the suspense and sexual tension of The X-Files, combine it with the charm and antics of Supernatural, and you get Darkhouse. ![]() 7/6/2023 0 Comments Dance hall of the dead book![]() ![]() ![]() Where did they find so many O’Malleys? He had a sudden vision of an office in the Department of Justice building in Washington, a clerk sending out draft notices to all the male cheerleaders and drum majors at USC, Brigham Young, Arizona State, and Notre Dame, ordering them to get their hair cut and report for duty. Leaphorn looked at him, wondering about this FBI policy. Consistent with his other works, Hillerman uses the awe-inspiring landscape of the American Southwest almost as a character in Dance Hall of the Dead. The FBI people always seemed to be O’Malleys - trimmed, scrubbed, tidy, able to work untroubled by any special measure of intelligence. Thus, his descriptions of setting in Dance Hall of the Dead include much rich, realistic detail, but also serve to further the plot and/or characterization of the novel. Leaphorn’s extensive experience with the FBI suggested that any of these three characteristics would prevent employment. He had bad teeth, irregular and discolored, and an air of casual sloppiness, and something about him which suggested a quick, inquisitive, impatient intelligence. “It had occurred to Leaphorn earlier that Baker was not, in fact, an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. ![]() 7/6/2023 0 Comments Days without end review![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One of the police officers knows him from school and they reminisce for a little while in the back of the car.
